Acchione says the policy was in the works for months, but was fast-tracked when he began serving as mayor.
WOODSTOCK - Mayor Jerry Acchione was part of the unanimous vote to pass the Diversity Equity and Inclusion policy for the city of Woodstock
The Mayor says he and the rest of council proudly support the simple message from this legislation
"As a city, we're totally in favour of course. We voted on this, it was unanimous. So, everybody on council is in favour of diversity equity and inclusion being a part of our team here at city hall, and moving forward we want to make sure everybody else knows that."
Acchione says the policy was in the works for months, but was fast-tracked when he began serving as mayor.
"Well I think the whole point of the policy is it's so open now that if you want to be who you are you can be here at the City of Woodstock."
The mayor says he's thankful to the staff that helped create the legislation.
