He would like to advocate for responsible growth, responsible financial management, and strong community services as a Woodstock City Councillor.

WOODSTOCK - A local business owner is vying for a spot on Woodstock City Council.

Wes Mazur is not only the owner of the Cheesy Cow Company, but he's also an educator and specializes in occupational health and safety. He also spent one year working for the Ontario government for public policy, so he has a lot of experience to bring to the table.

"Throughout my career I have worked with people from many different backgrounds to help solve problems, build consensus, and find practical solutions. I really believe that those experiences give me a well rounded perspective that will hopefully be valuable at the council table."

If he's elected, Mazur has three main items that he would like to tackle; responsible growth, responsible financial management, and strong community services.

In terms of responsible growth, Mazur says Woodstock is one of the fastest growing communities in the country, and council needs to be making decisions that balance today's needs with tomorrow's opportunities.

For responsible financial management, Mazur says he would help make informed decisions that will provide value while also protecting the financial health of the community.

Mazur says the Woodstock community is built on strong community services and support systems, so it's important to build on that. This includes not only sports and rec centres, but also youth programming, housing supports and mental health resources.

Mazur moved to Friendly City with his family over 13 years ago, and he has been in love with the community ever since.

"I really believe that Woodstock has so much going for it and my goal is not to change what already makes our city special, my goal is to help build on those strengths and help ensure that we've prepared for the opportunities ahead."

The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
