WOODSTOCK - The consequence of a recent bylaw change has been rectified by Woodstock City Council.
When Council was looking at uses for city assets such as Museum Square and Victoria Park – one section of the original bylaw remained in place.
That section could have banned gatherings of any kind, like the recent Black Lives Matter protest.
Mayor Trevor Birtch said that was not the intent of the bylaw and that section of the city ordinance ran contrary to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
