Several Councillors have assisted this holiday season in the Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign
WOODSTOCK - You may notice some familiar faces manning the Salvation Army Kettles around the Friendly City.
Woodstock City Council was challenged to participate throughout December by fellow Councillor Jerry Acchione. Volunteering for the first time with Kettle Campaign Councillor Acchione explains his time. "I did my first yesterday it was fantastic people are so generous, I was at the LCBO from 2-4 yesterday. I would love to know how much was raised, but people who know me know I'm not very shy so I will find out."
Local dignitaries have been challenged to volunteer for the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign and Councillor Acchione discusses how this came to be. "Really good I put the challenge out at a council meeting and asked all of our fellow councillors and the Mayor, and I think they have all donated their time to it."
Many have taken Councillor Acchione up on his challenge and he has one more for the citizens of Woodstock and why you should volunteer. "It shows, I mean everybody should volunteer, everybody who knows me knows I'm a huge volunteer long before I got into city council so I wanted to bring that in to everyone. I would love to challenge everybody lets see if you can get out more than 4 times for 2 hour shifts, and see how much we can raise and help out a great cause." The Salvation Army are lacking in their donations this year are seeking support from the public.
