Woodstock City Council will be taking a look at the school safety zone by-laws on Thursday night after complaints from people living on Cromwell Street.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council will be taking a look at the school safety zone by-laws on Thursday night.
The current by-law states their is no parking at all around schools in the Friendly City. Mayor Trevor Birtch says residents who live near the Roch Carrier French Immersion School recently came to council with their concerns
"So we have instituted no parking and no stopping zones around all of the schools in the Friendly City and we had a delegation come forward recently in specific reference to one school where there was no parking within a block of the school. The residents said this was impacting them to have visitors or contractors come by."
Council will be provided with three options on Thursday night, do nothing and keep the status quo, make an exception for this one school or revamp the by-law entirely.
Birtch says we will have to see what council decides on Thursday night.
"One thing I would like to remind the public is, if your driving your children to school, it is much safer to stop at a controlled intersection where the City provides a crossing guard and let your children cross the road safely that way, rather than trying to do it closer to the school where there is still traffic and things are really busy in the mornings and afternoons."
