Talk about a big day, a Fanshawe student at the Woodstock regional campus delivered her baby hours after taking her final exam.
WOODSTOCK - A Fanshawe student at the Woodstock campus managed to pass two big tests in one day after giving birth hours after taking an exam.
Jill Mater delivered a healthy baby girl at the Woodstock General Hospital on Thursday just hours after writing her final exam for the Health Care Office Assistant program. Emma Mater was born at 7:46 p.m., weighing in at 5 lbs. 10 oz., and was welcomed by soon-to-be graduate Jill and her husband Andrew.
Mater entered the Fanshawe program after losing her job with the Siemens Canada plant closure in Tillsonburg. The Health Care Office Assistant Program is part of the Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus' newest MyPath offering. Pending final grades, Jill is expected to be a member of the first MyPath graduating class.
Student Engagement Specialist Eric Collins says everyone at the campus is thrilled for Jill and her new baby.
"We were truly proud to receive such a joyous announcement with a major connection to our campus."
Collins also joked that they will start the recruitment process with Emma.
"Rest assured, Emma's recruitment for fall 2036 is well underway."
