
Robert Bertrand and Lukaz Kasprzyk will leave Hamilton and head to the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Ottawa.
WOODSTOCK - Two members of the Woodstock Fire Department will ride their bikes to Ottawa in support of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
Robert Bertrand and Lukaz Kasprzyk will be among the 75 firefighters taking part in the Celtic Fire Memorial Ride, when it leaves Hamilton on Wednesday September 3rd and arrives in Canada's capital on Friday September 5th.
Bertrand says this year is extra special because three Woodstock firefighters will be added to the memorial; Jack Wilford, Len Raper, and John Sibley.
"We ride with a little dog tag with everyone's name that's being added to the wall. I'll carry that with me for the three days and I will hand it off to the families who are all attending when we get there Friday afternoon."
The memorial is located at LeBreton Flats right across from the Canadian War Museum.
Bertrand says the cyclists will be escorted by police along the way.
"We have Hamilton Police escort us right down the mountain, right through downtown Hamilton to Lakeshore, then we take Lakeshore all the way to Toronto. When we get to Toronto, the police motorcyclists will takeover and they escort us through downtown Toronto to Toronto's training centre."
OPP and other departments will take over once they're out of Toronto. The cyclists will spend the night Cobourg on Wednesday and Kingston on Thursday, before arriving in Ottawa on the Friday.
