There is good news for local dialysis patients travelling to London for treatment. The Woodstock Hospital has expanded their dialysis care by three stations bringing their complement to nine stations increasing immediate care from 30 to 36 patients. Director of Critical Care and Dialysis Randy Hicks says the new Dialysis unit was designed with expansion in mind. He says the expansion has gotten great reviews from patients who used to have to travel to London for treatment. "In the winter months especially, not having to drive back and forth to London to worry about weather, the cost of the gas and the time that is saved in transit is absolutely wonderful and invaluable to each and every one of them." Woodstock's dialysis unit operates six days a week, administering over 44 hundred treatments a year. Most patients require dialysis treatment that takes up to five hours, three times per week.
