A lengthy investigation into a fraudulent cheque has lead to a Woodstock man being charged.
TECUMSEH - A list of charges has been laid in Essex County after a fraud investigation.
On February 2nd, 2024, a 43-year-old man deposited a cheque at a bank in Tecumseh for over 1-hundred thousand dollars. The money was taken out of the bank before they noticed the cheque was fraudulent.
Multiple agencies were involved in a lengthy investigation, which has lead to suspect from Woodstock being charged with a total of 6 charges. The charges include; Make False Statement in Writing, Fraud Over $5000, Use, deals, acts on forged document, Laundering Proceeds of Crime - did use - commission in Canada, Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 - in Canada, and Possession of article stolen from mail.
He will appear in Windsor Court next month to answer to the charges.
