This topic hits close to home for President of the organization, Devon Young, whose grandmother suffered from the disease.
WOODSTOCK - The Navy Vets are hosting Alzheimer's Awareness night tonight.
President of the Woodstock Navy Vets Devon Young says they are always happy to help the community in any way they can, and this is just one more way. "Again just raising awareness for another good cause. We have some special jerseys for warm up, and some photo ops, and again just raising awareness and donations at the door."
Young says everyone on the team feels its important to give back to the community that lets them do what they love to do. "From day one when we took over the organization a couple of years ago we said we want to be a pillar of excellence in the community. I think these causes are just one good way of doing that. We always want to focus on Oxford County specific foundations and the branches of these good causes."
For Young, this is a very special night as well. "My grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's, so that was part of it as well as just being in the community and being active out there in order to find these relationships, so it just seemed like an easy thing for us to do to help another good cause."
Puck drops at 7:45p.m. at the Woodstock Community Complex. They'll be taking on the Delhi Travellers.
