The Woodstock Police Service is eagerly anticipating the end of construction for the new addition at the station.
WOODSTOCK - The finishing touches are still being done on the new addition at the Woodstock Police Station.
For the past year and a half the building has been under construction for the addition which should be done by mid June. The service has been operating under two facilities for a number of years now and this new addition will get everyone back under one roof. Sergeant Don MacKenzie tells Heart FM the addition will provide them with some much needed office space.
"So the addition is essentially office space, it brings our detective and drug and Intel unit back within our building. The administration will move into the addition and the entire facility gets renovated. So we end up with a new forensics lab, better space for them, proper ventilation so the things that need to be ventilated directly outside are. So it will make a big difference for the health and wellness of our employees."
It also makes the detachment completely wheel chair accessible and they will now have an elevator as well for anyone with mobility issues. The project was slated to be completed at just over $4 million dollars, however we don't have a final number on the cost at this time.
