They will also be teaming up with the Oxford OPP once again to hold the KISS Campaign
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service are planning on cracking down on impaired drivers this holiday season.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen explains what they are prepared to launch. "We're launching our RIDE Program so Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere you could be arrested, you could spend time in jail have a fine you may lose your licence you could have your vehicle impounded you may have attend an educational program if you have your licence suspended you will have to pay a reinstatement fee."
To crack down on more drivers the OPP and Woodstock Department are joining forces to provide the KISS Campaign, and Constable VanLeeuwen continues to stress why people should not drive impaired by alcohol or drug. "I think we do need to go over the tips over and over because unfortunately we still have drivers that chose to drink alcohol and chose to do drugs and drive. We are just telling people just think ahead, plan ahead, be responsible, plan a safe ride home, either walk call a cab get a designated driver, but do not get behind the wheel of a vehicle." VanLeeuwen is also reminding the public that if you see someone suspected of driving impaired to notify police immediately.
Constable VanLeeuwen is excited to also bring back the KISS Campaign. "Keep It Safe and Sober the KISS campaign is a joint venture between the Ontario Provincial Police, and our Oxford County Injury Prevention Team. There will be some messaging on impaired driving and you will get a little packet of Hershey kisses for driving sober. We just want everyone to be safe this holiday season, so if everyone can just be smart and be responsible there shouldn't be any issues."
