Woodstock Police will be out in full force this long weekend targeting distracted drivers and drunk drivers.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police will be out in full force this long weekend.
They will be setting up R.I.D.E programs throughout the Friendly City. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says they will also be keeping a close eye out for distracted drivers.
"We are worried about our youth who don't seem to be getting it, that they can't have their cell phone face up sitting on their lap, that it can't be sitting on their console, so this weekend we will really be targeting distracted driving as well."
She adds the Police just want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable long weekend and they don't want to have to deal with any type of tragedies.
"In past we haven't had a lot of issues on the long weekend, but the biggest issues we usually run into is people still are driving while they are impaired, drinking too much, impaired by drugs and distracted driving is an ongoing concern for us."
Expect to see Police roaming ride checks throughout the city this long weekend.
