Applications are now being accepted for auxiliary police officer positions with Woodstock Police.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service is looking to recruit new volunteers to their Auxiliary Unit.
Members patrol with uniform officers and play big roles in community events; including the Santa Claus Parade and the Holiday Train.
Candidates receive 40 hours of training and learn more about provincial and federal laws. You also have to dedicate 120 hours per year and pass a police background check.
Chief William Renton says it's a great opportunity for aspiring police officers.
"They are an invaluable resource to the service and to the community. Being a member of an Auxiliary Police unit provides you with unparalleled insight into policing. In fact, Deputy Chief Sweazey and I began our policing careers as auxiliary officers."
The deadline to apply is October 15th. For more information you can contact Sergeant Don MacKenzie or Detective Constable Craig Murray at 519-537-2323.
