The Woodstock Terry Fox Run will takeover Southside Park this Sunday with registration starting at 9:00 a.m. at the bandshell.
WOODSTOCK - Southside Park will be a packed place once the Woodstock Terry Fox Run gets underway.
Chair John Versaevel says the run is coming up this Sunday and everyone will be gathering at the bandshell.
"The registration starts at 9:00 a.m. and the official opening ceremonies will begin, which we're trying to keep short this year. will begin at 10:00 a.m. The run will start right afterward and last until about 12:00 p.m., but if you're still on the course at 12:00 p.m. I doubt anyone is going to stop you."
Last year's event raised over $30,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation with all of the money going to cancer research. Versaevel has big hopes for this year.
"We are approaching the $600,000 level for Woodstock since 1980. I'm not sure we can get there this year, but if we can that would be amazing!"
As of 7:00 a.m. today, this year's event had raised $9,171 according to the Terry Fox Foundation website. You can donate to the cause and register for the event online here.
The Lions Club will also be hosting its Terry Fox Awareness Night during the Woodstock Navy Vets home opener against the Hespeler Shamrocks this Saturday. It's a great chance to donate to the cause and last year's event raised over $1,200 alone.
Versaevel stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday September 12th. You can listen to the full interview below:
