All of the proceeds raised will help fund research, support and awareness for Lupus.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes the body to attack its own tissues and organs. It can cause swelling and damage to joints, skin, and vital organs.
Everyone is encouraged to do as much as they can; Jan Ropp says some people walk, while many others sit and watch.
"Some people aren't able to walk too much so they just sit there and wait for us. I can't do the whole walk myself either right now so I just start with everybody and then I come back."
Ropp adds the money raised could help fuel a breakthrough.
"And it is very important to me because that's how we find money to find out more research to find cures. I know it's helped me a lot - I've been on several new studies for new medications."
The Woodstock Walk for Lupus is happening June 10th from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Registration is available online or day of.
