Oxford County accomplished a lot in 2023, and it's going to address homelessness and affordable housing this year.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council has received the latest update for its 10-Year Shelter Plan, which included a lot of highlights from 2023.
This includes 18 affordable housing units opened in Tillsonburg last year and the opening of Tillsonburg's overnight cold emergency shelter.
Warden Marcus Ryan says County Council will continue to address affordable housing and homelessness this year, through its Master Housing Strategy.
"More affordable units coming this year through the Master Housing Strategy. Those projects to build a big building with 30, 40, or 50 units takes some time, so residents will not hear about that happening for a while and now all of a sudden there will be an announcement, at least one or two of those, this coming year."
He says we could also see some announcements related to transitional housing this year.
