The local Health Unit wants to make sure you know the signs and symptoms of Tuberculosis on World TB Day. According to Oxford County Public Health and Emergency Services, less than 25 people in Oxford are diagnosed with TB every year but the disease infects millions around the world. TB is spread when someone with active TB disease in his or her lungs coughs or sneezes and the droplets are inhaled by another person. The symptoms include a persistent cough that may last for months, as well as chest pain, coughing up blood, weakness or fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, fever and night sweats.
