The Woodstock Kitten Nursery and Rescue will be hosting a yard sale fundraiser and adoption event on Clarke Street North tomorrow.
WOODSTOCK - Animal rescues in Oxford and beyond have been struggling to keep up.
Chantelle Stringle is the Community Program Coordinator for the Woodstock Kitten Nursery and Rescue. She says they have over 40 cats and kittens in their care right now.
"A lot of rescues right now are at capacity and we are one of them. There has never been a larger importance of spay and neuter. We see so many really sad cases, adoptions are down this year and a lot of pandemic pets have been given back. We're in a crisis."
The Oxford County Animal Rescue has also been experiencing an influx in the number of animal surrenders and you can read more about that online here.
The Woodstock Kitten Nursery and Rescue will be holding a yard sale fundraiser and adoption event at 43 Clarke Street North from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. They will also have Krispy Kreme donuts for sale with all of the proceeds going to the rescue.
The rescue is also getting ready to launch its Paws and Whiskers Community Connection program. It will take over the Foldens Hall on Wednesdays starting next week with two time slots; 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Stringle says they will be combining their emissary cats with art, meditation, and cat yoga.
Stringle stopped by the Heart FM studio on Friday August 4th to chat with Dan and Marcie about the rescue's upcoming events. You can listen to the full interview below:
