Third annual walk-a-thon for mental health goes today at 12 p.m.
WOODSTOCK - It was two years ago this past January that Tyler Maskell took his own life after a struggle with schizophrenia. Since then Maskell's family have worked to raise awareness of mental health and raise financial contributions to increase more mental health supports in the community. This year marks the third annual Time 2 Change Minds walk-a-thon that is hosted by Tyler Maskell's family, the Canadian Mental Health Association - Oxford and the Woodstock Hospital. The walk aims to 'change minds' when it comes to how mental illness is perceived.
The walk kicks off at 12 p.m. at College Avenue Secondary School and runs until 4 p.m. In addition to the run there will also be games. Green ribbons hung on trees in the area, will guide the way. Rain or shine.
