Mother's with a Heart for Ethiopia will be hosting an event. A Walk in Their Shoes will take place tomorrow at Southgate Centre, and it will raise awareness and money for children and women living in extreme poverty in Ethiopia.
WOODSTOCK - A first-ever event is taking place hosted by Mother's With a Heart for Ethiopia.
The organization is having A Walk in Their Shoes, which will take place tomorrow (Saturday, October 14th) at Southgate Centre.
Founder, Shelley Green speaks to the meaning behind the event.
"The name comes from the fact that we want people to come and learn about real people's lives in Ethiopia, and understand what realities are like there for women and children who are living in extreme poverty."
Green adds what people can expect at the event.
"So, people will register. Then we will have an Ethiopian Market Place, so people can purchase items that have been made by women. We are going to an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony, my friends are coming from London, so they can enjoy Ethiopian coffee and also snacks that would normally be served during a coffee ceremony, very cultural to Ethiopia. We will have a Discover Ethiopia contest, so this is another educational game, and we have a great prize for that lucky winner. We have lots of food, so socializing, we have a photo booth, and there is going to be a walk."
Registration will start at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Southgate Centre, and the event will run from 2 until 4 p.m.
Green says if the weather does not cooperate, the entire event will be held inside Southgate Centre, but if they can make it work, the walk is supposed to take place outside at Southside Park.
