Betty White would have celebrated her 101st birthday on Tuesday January 17th and the Betty White Challenge is calling on everyone to donate to their local animal welfare agency.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Betty White Challenge is back for another year.
Anna Holmes, the Rescue Director and Foster Coordinator for the Oxford County Animal Rescue, says the campaign is in memory of the former Golden Girl.
"If you remember last New Year's Eve, we lost Betty and one of her heartfelt missions was to help animals that needed help. So the Betty White Challenge was born and it encouraged everyone to donate $5 to an animal welfare agency."
The Oxford County Animal Rescue received over $6,500 worth of donations and a majority of it went to the vet bills for the animals in their care. The rescue currently has 12 cats listed as up for adoption online. They're also looking for the right home for an eight-month-old Golden Retriever puppy named Colby.
Holmes says members of the public are being asked to donate once again on January 17th this year, which would have been Betty White's 101st birthday.
"It's pretty easy to do. Most places have an instant link on their website and we have our Canada Helps link on our website. We can also do etransfer, you can drop off a donation in person and it doesn't have to be $5."
