"Building Safer Communities Together" is the focus for Woodstock police and OPP this week.
WOODSTOCK - It is Crime Prevention week and Woodstock Police services will be Building Safer Communities Together.
This years annual event will see officers meet with local groups to promote the shared responsibilities of keeping the Friendly City safe.
Sergeant Dave Rektor tells HeartFM the purpose of the event.
''We teach people how to safeguard their properties and businesses against crime and these are very easy, common sense steps to keep your homes and your businesses safe.''
Rektor adds the programs focus on the specific crime issues relevant to the community in order to make people aware.
''We have the OPP kids program through safeguard Ontario, that's a program where we go into the schools and we talk with kids about all kinds of safety issues; we also will be promoting our Lock It or Lose It program.''
The Woodstock Police and OPP are encouraging residents to attend the local programs and come together as a community to stand up against crime.
