Damian Warner is an Olympic gold medalist from London, but he does have a connection to Oxford County.
PARIS - Damian Warner is in action at the Paris Summer Olympics.
The 34-year-old from London is competing in the men's decathlon today, the same event he won the gold medal during the Tokyo Games back in 2021.
He finished first in the 100-metre race in the third heat this morning. He also placed fourth in Group B for long jump, and 10th in Group B for shotput. This puts him in second place in the standings so far, and the men's decathlon will continue with the high jump at 12:00 p.m. our time.
Warner does have a connection to Oxford County. Our former MP Dave MacKenzie is the great-grandfather to Warner's son Theo and City/County Councillor Deb Tait is his partner's aunt.
