INGERSOLL - The Town of Ingersoll is sounding the alarm after a dangerous act of vandalism over the weekend.
Two catch basin lids were removed and fell into their respective catch basins on Tunis Street. The deliberate act could have led to serious injury or damage to people or property.
Ingersoll Public Works Manager Dough Wituik put out a statement on Facebook about just how dangerous this can be.
"Because there is very little reason for anyone to open a catch basin, I would ask the public to report any suspicious activity around any catch basins or manholes to the OPP. The last thing anyone wants is for someone to fall into an open basin or for a vehicle to drive into an open basin or manhole."
