Expert Health Advisors Say Stay-at-Home Order Needed in Ontario

Ontario's science advisory table is recommending the province implement a stay-at home order.

New modelling data suggests that such an order will help curb the recent spike in cases in Ontario while alleviating pressures on the health care system.

Health officials blame the third wave on variants of concern, which experts say brings a 103 percent increase of ending up in an ICU, and a 56 percent increased chance of dying.

Data released by the province today indicates that there are currently 433 patients in ICU units in Ontario, and 259 of them are on ventilators.

Experts also say that vaccines are not reaching communities considered high risk, thus endangering essential workers and multi-generational households.

While the Premier is expected to announce a lockdown today, several media outlets reports that a stay at home order is not anticipated.
