Woodstock's new school zone policy includes new signage, a 40km speed limit as well as parking and stopping restrictions.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council is giving the green light to a new school zone policy.
City Engineer Harold deHaan says it will help maintain consistent traffic control around all of the elementary and high schools in the area.
"There will be school zone signs going up, lowering of the speed limit down to 40 kilometres an hour and we're putting some parking and stopping restrictions in."
Drivers will not be able to park or stop in front of schools between 8am and 4pm throughout the week.
deHaan says this policy has been about a year in the making.
"We did a lot of research on what other communities were doing for their school zones. We kind of grabbed what we liked out of some of them and changed other things."
Implementing the policy was originally predicted to be a two year project, but deHaan is confident they can get the job done in 2018.
