Now that spring has spring Ride Oxford is reminding everyone to submit their kilometers to the Million Kilometer Challenge
With Spring officially under way in Oxford County, many people will be enjoying the nice weather with a bike ride.
Oxford County is asking residents who do so to log their kilometres on the Ride Oxford web site. Supervisor of Engineering Services at Oxford Public Works Frank Gross tells Heart FM the County is hoping to log 1 million kilometres.
"The million kilometre challenge is an event the Oxford County cycling advisory committee started to promote cycling and active living and the idea is to accumulate a million kilometres collectively amongst all the residents in Oxford County. The committee started in the Spring of 2014 and we thought this would be a good kickoff to promote the cycling committee as well as the Share the Road sign installation."
The million kilometre challenge started in 2014 and so far we have logged over 230,000 kilometres. Gross says it is really easy to log your kilometres online at www.rideoxford.ca.
"If you go to the Ride Oxford web site and click on the million kilometre challenge you can enter your kilometres without an account or you can sign up for an account and track your own personal kilometres as well."
