A Woodstock resident is hoping to open up communication between landlords, tenants and neighbours.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock might be getting a landlord registry in the near future.
City Council instructed staff to conduct a report at their meeting Thursday night, after hearing a passionate delegation from a concerned resident.
Julie McRoberts says there are a lot of local landlords who don't actually live in Woodstock.
"A lot of the real estate agents would admit that the landlord had lived outside of city limits and that was part of the reason that the houses were in the state that they were because the landlord didn't know of these problems in the houses."
McRoberts says the registry would make it easier for anyone to contact these landlords; not just the tenants.
"This is kind of a means of opening up communication so even if a neighbour is seeing problems, hopefully then this landlord is now being informed."
Landlord registries are popular in cities that offer student housing for college and university campuses.
