Mark Schadenberg would like to make changes to Woodstock's public relations strategy if he is voted into city council this fall.
WOODSTOCK - A familiar face in the local sports community is running for Woodstock City Council.
Mark Schadenberg has been a member of Woodstock's Recreation Advisory Committee for 18 years now; the last five as Chair.
He was also the host for London Knights Hockey on Rogers TV for 12 years and the sports editor for the Woodstock Sentinel Review from 1993 to 1998.
Aside from sports, Schadenberg is a well known realtor.
"As a real estate agent in Woodstock for the last 18 years I've been very interested in things from boundary adjustments to plans of subdivisions and community growth; not only in the residential sides of things but also commercial and industrial."
Schadenberg would like to encourage a proactive approach in council chambers.
"I have a couple ideas of things that the city if Woodstock should look at; one being sort of in the public relations side of things as far as how the community gets its news about not just city council stuff but all news about events and happenings."
Community involvement is very important to Schadenberg. He has volunteered with the Lions Club of Woodstock, Relay for Life and was on the committee for the Woodstock Sports Celebrity Dinner.
