Lindsay Wilson is looking to make a difference as the Oxford County NDP candidate for the upcoming provincial election.
OXFORD COUNTY - She's one of the organizers for the Municipal Campaign School of Oxford County and now she has launched a campaign of her own.
Lindsay Wilson is the local NDP candidate for the upcoming provincial election.
She was born and raised in Oxford County and she currently lives in Ingersoll with her young family. She has spent a lot of time working in community economic development helping the economy, the environment, and non-profit organizations.
She founded the Municipal Campaign School of Oxford County alongside Kate Leatherbarrow in order to encourage more diverse representation in local politics. The school also empowers women to participate in politics and that is what inspired Wilson to start her own campaign.
"It is difficult to encourage women without stepping up to do it myself. So I wanted to walk the talk and run and really participate to change our community in that way."
Wilson says it's time for change in Oxford County and across the rest of the province.
"There are a lot of things that need to be fixed and the New Democrats are in the best position to fix some of those things that matter like affordable housing, health care, and certainly education. Mental health, I think the pandemic has shown us how important it is to have really good access to mental health. So if we want change, the New Democrats are the way to fix these things that really matter to us."
Ontarians will head to the polls on June 2nd.
