A 21-year-old man is providing some inspiration in Woodstock today. Andrew Metcalfe has come to the Friendly City on Day 51 of his "Pink Portage" tour. Metcalfe has been portaging across Ontario this summer, carrying a large pink canoe on his head, and raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. He's doing it in honour of his mother, grandma, and aunt, who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer. Heart FM caught up with Metcalfe on Dundas St. this morning and he says he's been inspired by the people he's met along the way. "Just complete strangers are trying to help me out in anyway that they can. Forgetting about the donations, people have been just so generous, offering water, food, even their own homes to sleep in. Without them helping me along the way, this wouldn't be possible. I'd still probably be between Kingston and Ottawa." Metcalfe was given a Friendly City welcome by many Woodstonians, including Lee. "I seen him walking down the street with a pink canoe...I jumped in my car, grabbed my camera and caught up with him." Metcalfe has already quadrupled his goal to raised $5000. He's at $21,000 and if he reaches $25,000, Shoppers Drug Mart will match him, bringing the total to $50,000. He'll be making his way down Highway 2 through Thamesford and into London today.
