Gems and Java Fundraising Total Revealed!

The event raised close to $81,450 for Hearts for Ethiopia's projects overseas.

WOODSTOCK - It was a very successful Gems and Java for Hearts for Ethiopia.

Over 160 people attended the fundraiser at Maranatha Church on Saturday, where they got to check out the Bags and Baubles Boutique, the Ethiopian Merkato, and more. 

Shelley Green, the founder of Hearts for Ethiopia, says they helped raise close to $81,450 when all was said and done.

"We're so thankful for all of our donors, supporters, and sponsors who helped make Gems and Java a success. Their contributions will ensure children have their basic needs met."

That money will support Hearts for Ethiopia's projects overseas including Tesfa's Shelter, Wellness for Women and Prolapsed Uterus Surgeries.

Green says they have also launched a new matching campaign called Double the Meals, Double the Hope, which looks support 20 children in crisis in Ethiopia.

"When I really look into the eyes of the children and women who have shared their life stories with us, I don't just see them in that moment, I think about all that those eyes have seen, all their sprits and bodies have endured, and sit in wonderment and awe that they have been able to continue on."
