OPP have received some new information regarding a cold case murder from 42 years ago.
SARNIA - West Region OPP are hoping for the public's help in solving a cold case murder after getting a new lead.
Police are still investigating the death of 14 year old Karen Lee Ann Caughlin who was murdered sometime between Friday March 15th, and Saturday March 16th in 1974. OPP are rehashing the case after getting some new information. They are looking to speak with anyone may have attended or hosted a social gathering in Petrolia after going to the Rose Gardens roller skating rink, perhaps the day before Karen was last seen alive. Some people may remember attending the party, but may not have known that Karen may have considered attending.
Karen was killed 42 years ago and her body was discovered near the side of the then-6th Sideroad or Freer Road, which is now known as Plowing Match Road, between Churchill Line and Lasaille Line in Lambton County.
The OPP continue to engage followers on the OPP West Region’s social media platforms. The public is encouraged to share social media postings and to watch a review of the available information during a Periscope broadcast with Detective-Inspector Chris AVERY at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16th. Connect to Periscope through the OPP West Region Twitter account @OPP_WR.
