The Tillsonburg Relay for Life has been cancelled as participation numbers dwindle.
TILLSONBURG - The Tillsonburg Relay for Life has been cancelled.
After 15 years, the organizing committee decided the event had run its course according to Manager of the Oxford Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society Janice Cunningham.
"They did see a declining interest in people that wanted to participate. They certainly were raising a lot of dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society - last year it was over $78,000."
Since the event began in Tillsonburg the community has been able to raise over $2.5 million.
Although it is the end for this particular event, Cunningham says there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved and help the Canadian Cancer Society.
"If you're interested in Relay for Life in the area then by all means join us in Woodstock. That event is Friday, June the 9th. If people want to do an event right in Tillsonburg we do have our Great Ride 'n Stride on Sunday, April the 30th."
