The Woodstock Fire Department is getting a new mobile command unit, thanks to the Oxford County Paramedics Association.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Fire Department is swapping a vehicle with the Oxford County Paramedics Association.
Acting Fire Chief Jeff Slager says the department is trading in a small rescue trailer for a large mobile command unit.
"It's larger than what's considered an ambulance vehicle. It's not used for the transportation of anybody. Once we get set up it's a mobile work station, so it gives our incident commanders an opportunity to have a work space at the scene."
The unit will also provide a climate controlled area for firefighters who may need rehab while out in the field.
Slager adds the city will be paying the county $50,500 for the new wheels.
"That price includes the trade value of the trailer. We're able to kind of work out a great deal where we're getting two capital assets moving hands and we're both getting what we actually need."
The unit undergo a bit of a makeover, in order to showcase the Woodstock Fire Department logo.
