Today is Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada. It is a national holiday, however it is not a statutory holiday in Ontario, meaning schools will stay open. You can find a complete list of what's open and what's closed today online here.
Locally a truth and reconciliation march is happening in Downtown Ingersoll this evening. Full details on that event can be found here.
Kids are going to school and they're encouraged to wear orange. Students across Thames Valley are participating in some very important discussions and learning about the Canadian Residential School system and the lasting impact it has had on Indigenous families and communities.
