The TVDSB and the LDCSB will receive millions of dollars in government funding through the COVID-19 Reliance Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
WOODSTOCK/LONDON - Two local school boards will receive millions of dollars in government funding for infrastructure upgrades as we battle a third wave of COVID-19.
The Thames Valley District School Board will receive a total $10,274,000 and the London District Catholic School Board will receive $6,455,500.
The school boards can use the money for building retrofits or it can be put towards HVAC renovations in order to improve air quality. The funds can also help with space reconfigurations in order to support physical distancing such as new walls or doors.
The money is being provided by the provincial and federal governments through the COVID-19 Reliance Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. Ottawa is investing up to $525.2-million for these projects and the Ford Government is contributing an extra $131.3-million.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says this is great news for the people of Oxford County.
“This funding by the provincial and federal governments is excellent news for Oxford’s schools to support critical upgrades and updates, further protect our students and school staff during COVID-19 and help ensure their wellbeing in the years ahead. I want to thank Minister Laurie Scott and Minister Stephen Lecce, as well as the Government of Canada, for this crucial investment which will benefit our entire community now and in the future.”
