The Jr. Vets claimed their win against Brantford during Wednesday's home game.
WOODSTOCK - The U18 Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets are the 2023 Alliance Champions!
The Jr. Vets claimed their win against Brantford during Wednesday's home game.
Head Coach Jack Vessoyan says the team worked together to claim the championship.
"We started off giving up the first goal, and we were down 1-0 going into the second. It seems the boys were deflated, they stuck with the game plan, and they persevered through."
In light in the Alliance win, the team is excited to take part in the Ontario Hockey Federations Minor Hockey Championships next weekend.
Vessoyan says the team is hard at work preparing for next week's game.
"It's cautious optimism, as any good team should have. We as coaches are doing the best to prepare them with scouting reports on teams we are facing and what they may be like."
The host city for the Championships is Porcupine, Ontario.
Round Robin is scheduled for April 21st, and the championship match takes place on April 23rd.
Head Couch Jack Vessoyan also expressed a huge gratitude to the assistant coaches Chris Jensen, Kyle Walker and Mike McMahon, as well as Team Manager Jeff Kindruys, stating that the team couldn't have done it without everyone coming together as a team and working hard.
Congratulations to the U18 Jr Navy Vets who beat Brantford 5-2 in the deciding game on Wednesday night at Southwood Arena to win the Alliance Championship and advance to the OHF U18 A Championships in Porcupine !! ..@WDSKNavyVets@cityofwoodstock@1047HeartFM@WoodstockSR
