WOODSTOCK/TILLSONBURG/INGERSOLL - Big Brothers Big Sisters is switching up their annual Bowl and Curl for Kids Sake.
This year, they are mixing the events with Woodstock, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg to bring Play for Kids Sake.
They will have bowling in Woodstock on February 5th, 7th, and 8th, bowling in Ingersoll on the 7th and 8th and curling in Tillsonburg on the 8th.
Resource Development Manager Liz Wismer-Van Meer says anyone is welcome to the events.
"The best thing to do if you're registering by yourself you can come out and Bowl by yourself or we do have people who want to bowl and don't have a team and there's a team with 4 or 5 we'll ask if someone can join, it's usually never a problem but the maximum team amount is 6 people. For Curling it's teams of four that we need, if you are an individual Bowler or Curler and aren't sure what to do give us a call at the office and we'll see what we can do."
Curling will be $500.00 per team which will include lunch for all curlers between the game times, and all refreshments will be included at the bowling events.
Van Meer says these events are not only important for their funds but for the community they support as well.
"Fundraising is a big part of what keeps us going here. We do not receive ongoing government funding, we rely on funding through grants and such and we do have some great support locally for that but for us to offer all of our services and programs for free to the community as we do now, we really do rely on these fundraising events to keep those programs running."
If you register by the end of the day next Friday you will be entered in to the Early Bird Draw for a chance to win a pizza party for your team, they will only be giving one to one team from each community.
Van Meer adds that this year their theme is based off of the Olympics.
"This year our theme is Go for the Gold so that's kind of off the Olympic theme, so we're asking teams to kind of build on what that might look like to them, and sometimes people think outside the box they get creative and run with it but it also coincides with our 50th anniversary which are the golden years so it really does work nicely for us this year."
