A name has been put forward for a councillor position on the Blandford-Blenheim council.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - Blandford-Blenheim is gearing up for the municipal election.
Resident Vanessa Hnat has put her name forward for a chance to become a councillor. She is excited for the opportunity and says why she submitted her name.
"Politics has always been something that I love, and I've always wanted to run. I just didn't have the time because my kids were young and life was busy. And now that they're a little bit older and a little more self-sufficient, I am taking the leap."
Hnat thinks she can help make the community better than it already is. She says she would like to see children included in more activities, as she is a mother of younger kids. Hnat explains what she is looking to do if she secures a spot on council.
"My goals, if I do get elected, are to learn what the community needs, listen to the people of the community, and try to help them reach those goals as best I can within the confines of my position as councillor."
Hnat has lived in Blandford-Blenheim for 11 years and loves the fact that everyone knows everyone. She says the Township has been a place for herself and her family to lay down roots and make a great living.
Residents of Blandford-Blenheim will head to the polls on Monday, October 26th.
