Woodstock Council has agreed to give funding to ten local organizations. The Community Grants Advisory Committee picked them out of fifteen eligible applications. A decision on three of the applications has been deferred to the spring pending further information. A total of $64,000 will be allocated, but as Councillor Paul Plant explains, the Grants program is meant to be one-time start-up or seed money, and not a continuous funding source. "We're in the process of trying to wean some people from the grant program because it's every year. A number of them have been reduced significantly from what they asked. I think it's apparent that our plan is to do that," said Plant. The organizations approved for funding include: -Fanshawe Singers- Woodstock (Honour Choir) - Fanshawe Singers- Woodstock (Kaleid Choral Festival) - Ontario Genealogical Society (Oxford County Branch) - Oxford Historical Society - Woodstock Minor Baseball - Agricultural Society- Woodstock - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Woodstock and District Association - VON- Sakura House - Woodstock District Developmental Services
