It could be a wet and windy night for residents in Woodstock and the surrounding area, according to Environment Canada.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock and area could be in for a wet night.
Environment Canada is forecasting thunderstorms for the area. Warning Preparedness Meteorologist, Trudy Kidd, says there is no escaping the weather that is coming.
"We're very confident about the thunderstorms happening. What they bring is a little less confident. We're expecting them to bring a lot of rain and for Woodstock and area that could be 30 millimetres."
Kidd says localized areas could see more rain depending on the system. She adds that wind gusts could get up to 80 km/h tonight, which could cause damage to trees and blow around household items that are not tied down. Kidd mentions when residents could expect the storm.
"Those thunderstorms are going to start probably around midnight or so, and hopefully they'll have cleared up by the time people are heading to work in the morning."
Kidd says people should always keep an eye out for any special statements or warnings that might be issued by Environment Canada.
