MPP Ernie Hardeman is questioning the decision not to include Housing Services Corporation salaries in the Sunshine List.
OXFORD COUNTY - As the lack of affordable housing spaces in Oxford County continues to make headlines, our local MPP is questioning the province to reveal employees of the Housing Services Corporation making more than $100,000 a year.
Last week the province released the sunshine list which Ernie Hardeman says didn't contain the names of those working at the Housing Services Corporation after legislation changed back in 2011 which did not require the Corporation to release the information even though employees are paid with public social housing dollars.
In the Ontario Legislature Tuesday, Hardeman said for the 165 thousand families waiting for affordable housing, $100,000 is a lot of money and he believes those who need housing and taxpayers have the right to know how the money is being spent.
Hardeman has introduced a private members bill asking for the salaries of those making over $100,000 to be added to the sunshine list but also for the Provincial Auditor General to investigate the Housing Services Corporation.
