While many businesses have been hit hard by COVID-19, the grocery business has been steady, so steady one grocer is recruiting temporary staff.
ONTARIO - Loblaw recently announced they're looking to hire part-time employees.
The company stated in a release last Friday their grocery stores and pharmacies are looking for some much needed relief for their team.
Head of Human Resources for Loblaw and Shoppers Drug Mart Mark Wilson says they're looking to hire a full team to help keep their stores and distribution centres operating.
“Our supply chain is strong and we're going to keep it that way. We know people are relying on our stores to be open, stocked and ready to serve. In order to keep things running smoothly, we need a full team in stores and distribution centres. We also need to be able to give our current team a break. So we're inviting people to apply and we'll reach out if we need a hand re-stocking, supporting customers, or just pitching in.”
They're looking to hire people at Zehrs stores in the region.
The company launched a website to quickly recruit temporary workers for their stores and distribution centres.
Wilson says with the company looking to hire and people looking for work, it can benefit both sides.
“With all that’s going on, we know there are some people out there who are looking for work. If there are people looking to be employed and paid right now, maybe we can help each other out.”
