Oxford County council has approved the deferral from Township of Blandford-Blenheim regarding the wastewater servicing in Princeton.
OXFORD COUNTY - A motion on the Princeton Wastewater Service has been deferred for now.
The Township of Blandford-Blenheim was initially requesting to go with the "Do Nothing" approach as the preferred Class Environmental Assessment Study.
Warden Larry Martin says it's been deferred by the Township for more consultation and further input.
"The Township of Blandford-Blenheim was asking that the Village of Princeton be serviced and there were all kinds of reports that went out and requirements as far as what was needed, what wasn't needed and how much it was going to cost."
Council received a letter from the Township during Wednesday night's meeting. They first requested that approach as an alternative for wastewater servicing.
Warden Martin says public consultation is very important.
"They're the people that are going to have to pay for it, it's a user pay system. So whether it's $5,000 a year or $15,000 or $16,000 a year the people that are hooked into the wastewater treatment plant and water in Princeton will be the ones that will be required to pay the bill."
He says they're going to allow the Township more time to explore more avenues.
Warden Martin says there is no timeline on when the motion will be brought back to council. He adds it can be brought forward at any time.
