OXFORD - Pride Month has arrived!
The Progress Flag will be raised in every Oxford County municipality today, starting with the Oxford County Administration Building at 8:00 a.m. and ending at the Norwich Community Centre at 4:00 p.m.. You can complete the complete flag raising schedule below this article.
Tera Russell, the President of Oxford County Pride, says the Progress Flag is similar to the Pride Flag, but it does a little further than that.
"The traditional Pride Flag for me was about gender and sexuality, so a very specific minority. The Progress Flag encompasses so much more inclusivity than the original Pride Flag."
It includes not only the six-stripe Pride rainbow symbol, but also sideways chevrons of light blue, pink, and white to represent trans and non-binary individuals. It also includes sideways chevrons of brown and black to represent people of colour, and a purple circle to represent the intersex community.
The popular Pride Family Day, will be taking place in Museum Square on Saturday, June 13th this year
Russell says they have also partnered with some local businesses for other fun events.
"We're going to have sip and sculpt at the Woodstock Art Gallery run by The Kiln Room, we also have Cheesy Family Pride Day at Gunn's Hill Artisan Cheese and we also have a Indigenous event where you can make your own drum with Two Row Creeations."
Upper Thames Brewing Company will host Big Top Bingo Night on June 3rd and Pride Trivia on June 24th. There will also be a Pride Karaoke Party at Joker's Crown on June 11th and a movie night at the Market Centre Theatre on June 17th. Oxford County Pride will also launch an online auction today and it will be available all month long.
All of the local Pride Month events have been laid out in the Oxford County Pride Guide for 2026 and you can find it online here.
