The hospital will increase nursing resources to meet the needs of its patients.
TILLSONBURG - There will no longer be any personal support workers (PSW) in the acute care units at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
Rural Roads Health Services announced yesterday that it will be increasing nursing resources in acute care and in the intensive care unit, and formal layoff processes will be followed for the PSWs under their collective agreement.
It said a recent review discovered that patients require more frequent nursing assessments, complex medication management, and timely clinical interventions, and all of this falls under the scope of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses. It also said enhanced regulated nursing resources can improve patient outcomes, reduce adverse events, and support safer and higher-quality care.
This will not affect their patient services or bed capacity, and it also shouldn't have any impact on care delivery.
