Mother with a Heart for Ethiopia are inviting everyone to check out their fundraiser full of sparkle, fun, and a lot of heart.
WOODSTOCK - Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia will be holding their annual Gems and Java event at Cowan Park on April 8th and 9th this year.
Those who come out for the event will be able to pick out a complimentary purse, scarf, or piece of jewellery. They can also take part in a silent auction, purchase specialty coffees and wine, and check out an Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
Executive Director Shelley Green says there are many ways to give during this event.
"We'll have donation cards on the tables. Many women take advantage of that opportunity to say, yes I want to contribute towards a surgery for prolapsed uterus or I want to contribute the money for an outfit and shoes for a child so they can go to school. Those are some examples of some of the projects we are supporting right now."
Green says because Mothers with a Heart for Ethiopia has very low overhead costs, most of the money will be sent to help people living in poverty.
"Since our organization is completely run and lead by volunteers, we have no office, we're really delighted to be able to say our expenses are extremely low and we can send off the vast majority of what we raise at Gems and Java to Ethiopia to support the projects that we're funding."
The fundraiser will run from 7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. on Friday April 8th and 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday April 9th.
There are still tickets available for the Saturday afternoon event - a single ticket costs $45 and tables of 8 can be reserved for $360
You can purchase tickets at the Merrifield Book Shop located at 471 Dundas Street in Woodstock. You can also purchase tickets by calling the ticket coordinator Anne MacKenzie at 519-421-2663.
