The South Gate Centre is putting on the Chilly Charlie Breakfast & Prognostication this weekend. The annual event on Sunday morning, which will see an appearance by Woodstock's favourite groundhog.
WOODSTOCK - Chilly Charlie is back at the South Gate Centre this weekend.
He'll be arriving on Sunday to give his prediction on the weather.
Operations Manager Felise Jones says people continue coming back to this event every year.
"It's fun. It's one of the fun community events we do, they're all fun but this one is whimsical and fun. And Charlie always arrives in a unique manner, not quite sure how he's arriving this year. Last year he showed up on a snowmobile."
She adds she's not sure he'll be arriving on a snowmobile due to the lack of snow this year.
Jones says there will be breakfast served until 10:00 am because the event falls on a Sunday this year.
She says his prediction depends on what kind of weather we'll have.
"If the weather is like this today we don't want him to see his shadow, if he sees his shadow he gets scared and goes back into the hole. Winter is due to arrive, so maybe."
Jones says the local groundhog has been a part of Woodstock for about 17 years. She adds when he was introduced earlier they used to do a whole bunch of festivities during the day, including dances and bands.
Tickets cost $5.00 and children under five years old are free. Tickets can be either picked up in advance or purchased at the Centre on the day of the event. If you are interested in picking them up in advance, you can visit the Centre from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Chilly Charlie will be there at 7:30 am.
